Practice makes perfect (Embroidery v.2)

I just can't get enough with it.
Practice, practice, and practice!!!
This is another color but it's still the same tone with my first post of a little pocket showcase.

Yes!! It's a gift for my friend again. This is more than words to tell her what I have been done instead of hanging around on Facebook.

Cosmetic Bag

Finally, my cosmetic bag just was born right in time.  I made this for my mom. She is about to visit Japan.  I gave her my handbag and here is a cosmetic bag with Japanese yarndye.  It gives a personal touch by making it for someone. Most importantly, she is about to carry this piece to travel with her.

I am just falling in love with Japanese fabric. The softener and pattern is very unique.  Can't wait to share!!!

A new learner ~ how to stitch?

Something I have just started learning. I think I am falling in love with it quite a bit.  I do have lots to do that's the reason why I said "...quite a bit." haha!!  Some friends formed a small group of four and arranged a session with local artist here, she took her diploma in this field from collage in Australia. Good thing about learning from her is, she was very relax and gave us the name of each style. But I don't remember those name haha!! How bad am I? Also, we only need a needle, thread, and your heart, and your imagination.

Yes!!! I made them all without embroidery hoop.  It's more free style this way.

Things surround me, inspires me!!!

I love these things not just because it's adorable or the easiest way to make them. But it's something keep reminding me that I am not alone as we talk through our piece of arts.

Gifts and Friendship

What is your favorite gift?
Who gave the best gift?
When did you get it?
Who love to give them to ya?

One of my best friends always shares her love and care from her gift.  She is very thoughtful and shows me her attention to my current activity or hobby... Once in a while, I got to smile at her presents and questioned myself "how many hobbies I have haha!!" "sewing, baking, collecting magnet,..."  Should I tell her my new activity? haha!!!

But one another with the same gift, magnet, but he loves to show me his country and probably wants to tempt me visiting his country.  It's still on my schedule :-)

Another lovely friend is proud at her town and a local design.  She normally gave me things that surround her like this local designed bag from northern part of Thailand.  I also have some lovely items from vintage stores I love to visit in Chicago. She knows what I adore and crave to have. Thanks for having her love :-)

I think I am a lucky person...
This one loves to share me her love with gifts and things we have shared when we were staying together.  She keeps reminding me lots of happy moments.  But once we are apart from each other with work and new circumstances, but she still talks to me by heart. Thanks god for having them all.

Little Coin Pockets

Little pocket is acting like a duck I would call haha!!
It comes with three size together with S, M, L.
Love the way the designer creates for the opener
or probably because its great material.
Originally, the material was prepared for ready-to-sew.
Today, I could find its material in a big sheet to cut myself.
Definitely, it's a lot cheaper.

With its sizing, I prefer to have it as
a wedding souvenir,
a Christmas gift,
an organizer,
or even a showcase for new learner to saw :-)

Local Crafts

I first thought that embroidery stitch is only a craft in western countries.
Once I got to countryside in the eastern part of Thailand,
everyone in the village was wearing a black handmade jacket
with blanket stitch, an easy step for a beginner.
It's wonderful thing that I found.
I saw embroidery on a piece of craft of western people,
but here decorate clothes as a key concept.
Any idea to share?

Let's see what is the similarity here!!!

Oh no!!!!
Another basic stitch is there too...
Chain stitch
For me, it's easier than blanket stitch.
What do you think?

Here are more stitches... I have been told from people who made this jacket. The local people in the village normally wears it as if the western people wear a suit. It is special outfit for all matter. That's why you see many different black jackets :-) They love colorful stuff but with they only black shirt in this village.

Who they are?

They are one of the forth tribes in this region, Suay (ส่วย).
Suay made this all by hand
from
making fabric,
cut,
and stitch it.

How long they are going to wear?
...seems like it last forever...

My spanish friend came to the village once.
She got to try this black jacket.
She looked good with the jacket on top.
If I could find a nice one, I would send it over for a gift
to some friends oversea.
Well, you have to make sure she is a craft-lover though :-)

I love the instruction from this book:
